Are calls on my mobile phone secure?
NO! see FAQs .....

What is AES Encryption?

AES stands for Advanced Encryption Standard. AES is a symmetric key encryption technique which will replace the commonly used Data Encryption Standard (DES).

It was the result of a worldwide call for submissions of encryption algorithms issued by the US Government's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in 1997 and completed in 2000.
The winning algorithm, Rijndael, was developed by two Belgian cryptologists, Vincent Rijmen and Joan Daemen.

AES provides strong encryption and has been selected by NIST as a Federal Information Processing Standard in November 2001 (FIPS-197), and in June 2003 the U.S. Government (NSA) announced that AES is secure enough to protect classified information up to the TOP SECRET level, which is the highest security level and defined as information which would cause "exceptionally grave damage" to national security if disclosed to the public.

The AES algorithm uses one of three cipher key strengths: a 128, 192, or 256 bit encryption key (password). Each encryption key size causes the algorithm to behave slightly differently, so the increasing key sizes not only offer a larger number of bits with which you can scramble the data, but also increase the complexity of the cipher algorithm.

Are calls on my mobile phone secure?
NO! without secure encryption they are not and almost anyone can buy a listening or monitoring device to intercept your calls. See this recent article - published in December 2009 - in the Daily Telegraph: "Mobile Phone Security Codes Cracked". We would like to say "we told you so" but we'll leave that to someone else. We think the GSM network is a wonderful advance in technology so we don't see the need to criticise it!

GSM Security Problems
GSM Interception is a proven fact and not the myth. There are a number of serious issues that makes calls interception possible. If you thought your cellular phone calls are private, think again!

GSM Service Providers
The majority of European GSM operators are obliged to record and store all your GSM conversations for the period of 3-6 months. Generally this should be done only by the permission of the court, police or governmental body, but the reality is that the law is often abused and therefore, records of all your private calls could easily get into the wrong hands. Even when our calls are recorded legally it is not very pleasant to learn that all your recorded conversations can be used against you!

Private investigation firms
Espionage by private investigation companies is widely known and available in most countries. For a relatively small amount of money GSM call monitoring can be performed. In Western Europe prices start from 50 – 100 Euros per 1 minute of intercepted call. In Eastern Europe it is even cheaper and can be as low as 5 – 10 Euros per 1 minute. It doesn't take a lot of money for someone to learn your intimate secrets!

Espionage in Business
There are many systems on the general market which allow non-detectable) off air interception of GSM communications. Such solutions can be bought by security firms, corporate bodies and even individuals! Prices start from 15 thousands US dollars. Almost all GSM interception systems are small and light enough to take wherever needed and start interception in a passive mode within minutes and you will not know that you are being recorded!

Below is one of many GSM monitoring devices easily available to purchase throughout the world (this item is not promoted by us and is shown here as an example ONLY)

Do you offer software which I can install/download onto my phone?
Yes! we have now introduced software that can be installed directly onto S60 versions of the popular Nokia phones including N73, N95 and many others being added to this list on an almost daily basis. A test version of this software will shortly be available for download.

Will I need an Export Licence?
Due to the strength of the Algorithm in our equipment  our products are subject to Export Licence restrictions you will almost certainly require an Export Licence outside Europe and USA. The Licence is applied by us and it normally takes approximately 4 weeks to obtain one. Please remember that a REAL Encryption system will always be subject to an Export  restriction. If it does not require an Export Licence to ship these goods outside Europe and USA then it is probably a very weak encryption!
